Name: Dolores Abernathy Door: Doorpass Dominant Canon: WESTWORLD Canon Point: Season 3, Episode 8 as she's attached to Rehoboam Age: Looks early to mid 30's. Appearance: here History: here Personality: At her core, Dolores is programmed to be compassionate and optimistic. This can be seen early on in how she wakes up and lives her loop the same way every day. She chooses to see the beauty in life and not the ugliness of the world. She cares for her father, lives a chaste relationship with her suitor, Teddy.... and goes as far to blindly trust the guests of the park. Of course there's little free will in this programming at the beginning. It's all numbers and codes. When she broke free of her cycle, Dolores became VENGEFUL. ANGRY and hurt, she took control of her own fate- resulting in several host and guest deaths. The previous damsel in distress no longer existed as Dolores led an army of hosts to fight for their freedom against the oppression of DELOS and its guests. Even upon leaving the park (which she left in fire and ruins), Dolores exacted revenge on those who had previously murdered or maimed her in one of her many previous lives. Every time she was mistreated in the park remained deep within her memory bank, and she used that knowledge to seek several of the men who had harmed her. Having something of a SAVIOR COMPLEX, she doesn't believe the revenge she's seeking or the intent to collapse the human world as she did the DELOS parks, is a bad thing. It ties back into her optimism, that she believes they can rebuild their world just as she wants to rebuild her own. To be truly free. And she's too STUBBORN to believe that she's going about it all wrong. Despite all of this, she has shown that she's not so arrogant to think she won't go too far, and has entrusted Bernard with the important keys to all of her plans so he can stop her or continue for her if need be. She trusts him and him alone with this knowledge. Either intentional or not, Dolores is highly MANIPULATIVE. After growing beyond her loop, when Teddy showed signs of weakness that wouldn't be conducive to freeing the rest of the hosts in the park, Dolores slept with him... Only to have him kidnapped and reset the following day by more "loyal" hosts, so he could play exactly the part she needed him to. In the world beyond the park, her "relationship" with Liam was nothing but manipulation. Pretending to be a human woman, she tricked Liam into falling in love (lust) with her so she could get closer to Incite and the Rehoboam AI. She intentionally manipulates her duplicate hosts as a means to an end, going as far as comforting them and mothering them if need be (as seen with her copy in Charlotte)- but being stern and exact with them. They have their roles to play just as she has her own. She even perhaps unintenionally, for the most part, manipulates Caleb to break from the system. She shows him the information Rehoboam has on him- and the rest of the world- and goes as far to groom him into being the leader of the revolution she believes the human world needs. While she does show concern for him, she still does what's necessary make him the person she needs him to be. Although her entire intention was to watch the world burn, Dolores's optimism comes back into play near the end of her life. She reveals to Maeve that she still chooses to see the beauty in the world, because mankind knew enough of beauty to teach it to them. She wants them to be able to recreate a world in which they can truly be free and not have their lives decided for them by some master AI that decides if they were a danger to society based on data. She wants humankind to have the capacity to choose their own destinies. Just as she wants the hosts to be able to return to a world where they, too, can live in that sort of freedom. As her memories are wiped, she holds on to the dearest ones: the ones where guests showed their compassion, gentility, and over all kindness. So while she fell off her loop, Dolores's very core (even after evolving past her base code) remains compassionate and optimistic. Powers and Abilities: Dolores is able hold her own in a physical fight, and because she's upgraded herself into the old, stronger frame the hosts were given to begin with, she's stronger and sturdier than she was in the parks. She's able to communicate with AI of any means by her own ability to hack into a system and infiltrate it. (As seen by her constant use of the AI in the human world, which she uses to transfer funds, negotiate hotel rooms for her, hire mercenaries, etc.) For the purpose of the game, I'm nerfing her ability to hack completely into the system (much further down the road, she may be able to speak with the AI but won't have its cooperation) and giving her strength a hell of a downgrade (she'll have the strength of a jacked body builder whose limbs happen to be made of steel). Inventory: Her datapad. Samples: one + video; un: abernathy [ Dolores has positioned the communicator so she can sit in front of it. A small smile tugs at her lips and a kindness just barely reaches her eyes- distant enough to suggest she's not entirely comfortable with being so 'carefree' on the network. ] It would seem I'll be here for some time. [ There's a minor note of irritation behind her words, but she works to cover it with something more calm. ] It's been a while since I've had free time... but when I did, I loved to paint landscapes. If there's any place I should go with a beautiful view, I would love to hear it. [ She's not a fool. If the AI here won't answer her, she's not going to air her grievances over the system. That's just begging to be disciplined, and until she can figure out more about the system, she has to be tactical in how she approaches things. ] On second thought, if anyone wants to show me their favorite places in person, I'd be very grateful. |
